Ingredients
For the spring rolls:
6 ΚΑΝΑΚΙ FILO Pastry Sheets
Melted butter
2 tbsp sugar
½ tbsp cinnamon
For the stuffing:
2 tbsp butter
4 green apples
4 tbsp sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp clove
¼ tsp salt
1 tbsp flour
2 tbsp lemon juice
½ cup walnuts, ground
For the decoration:
Clove nails
Powdered sugar – cinnamon (optional)
Preparation - Steps
For the stuffing:
In a large frying pan, heat the butter and add the apples, (in small cubes), nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, salt, sugar, flour, walnuts (ground) and lemon zest. Stir well and, after the apples become soft, leave the stuffing aside to cool down a little.
For the spring rolls:
Lay 1 Filo Pastry Sheet on a surface and smear with melted butter. Sprinkle the whole surface with a little sugar and cinnamon. Cover with a second sheet, repeating the same procedure with the melted butter, sugar and cinnamon.
Cut the ready-made pastry sheets in 3 equal vertical parts. Then, add 1 1/2 tbsp from the stuffing on the base of each parallelogram, leaving a small distance from the bottom and two sides. Seal the sides of the sheet on the left and on the right throughout the length (and on the stuffing). Start to fold into a roll from the base with the stuffing upwards.
Repeat the same procedure with the remaining sheets.
Stick 1-2 clove nails on each roll.
Smear the rolls with a little butter and cook in a preheated oven at 180°C for 15 min, until golden brown.
Optionally, sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon to serve.
